WHERE Challenge announces national and regional winners

More than $16-thousand awarded in prize money!

After receiving hundreds of entries from across the country, WHERE Challenge organizers are pleased to announce the contest's national, regional and school winners. Sponsored by EnCana Corporation and Teck and in celebration of International Year of Planet Earth, the first annual WHERE Challenge was launched last October and asked Canadian students aged 10 - 14 years to discover the answers to these questions: What on Earth is in your stuff and WHERE on Earth does it come from? Students were encouraged to use their imagination in their response to create an educational story told through an essay, poem, song, play, painting, poster, audio, video or multimedia presentation.

Regional and national judging committees made up of dozens of Earth science professionals and educators from across Canada deliberated on the hundreds of entries received from all corners of the country - from Whitehorse, Yukon to Bedford, Nova Scotia. The national, regional and school winners are as follows:
